<- go back home in celebration of this year's Disability Pride Month i'd like to recount some recent events for me and then talk about Disability Justice theory. if you want to read more about my personal history, check out the disability tag. i fell in love with running my own network services after becoming familiar with linux while i was in high school and discovering the selfhosted and homelab subreddits in college. at the beginning of 2020 i moved back in with my parents due to the trifecta of losing my hearing, dropping out, and the US' inadequate response to the COVID-19 pandemic fucking everything up, so i had lots of time and the privilege to hide in my room and play around with computers. hello dear readers, glad to have you back! i've had a bit of a wild ride over the last 5 or so months. i used to do that thing where i would listen to the same 20-or-so songs on shuffle (rotating them in and out over time of course), all day every day, from as early as i can remember to twenty-two years old when my hearing was taken from me. i've become really attached to the memory of music since then, so in this post i will take a brief look back at some of the songs i used to listen to, broken down by era or influence as best as i can, in order to share some nostalgia with you! i've been wanting to write publicly for a while about my experience growing up with a rare neurodegenerative condition. since July is Disability Pride Month, i finally decided to do it because this is my blog and i want to be able to help others like me not feel so alone. not long after my last post where I replaced the icon and application menu entry for the Sublime Text IDE, I went and did the same for the GNU Image Manipulation Program because using the acronym just doesn't feel right to me. i made a silly little modification to my copy of Sublime Text 4, the GUI text editor that i use for everything outside of a terminal. (even writing this!) here's how i did it. i grew up on my mom's banana bread. it's a great way to use overripe bananas. this recipe was developed from a generic nut bread recipe from her old betty crocker cookbook by both of us making changes along the way. a delicious and hearty chili that's hard to do wrong. this recipe is merely a jumping-off point in creating your own.all posts
